The juvenile, whose name and age were not released, approached the victim and brandished what appeared to be a firearm, then began hitting the victim in broad daylight on Mill Street near the COVID-19 testing center Monday, police told the news outlet.
The incident occurred in front of multiple witnesses, including a testing site worker who called 9-1-1 and reported the incident as an armed subject with a handgun, police said.
The juvenile suspect fled on foot when police arrived and a brief foot pursuit ensued, NorthPennNow says.
The juvenile was found outside of the Univest building along the 500 block of West Main Street moments later, at which point police drew their weapons and ordered the suspect to surrender, authorities told NorthPennNow.
Police describe the suspect as a black teenager who complied and was subsequently taken into custody.
The firearm turned out to be a B.B. gun, but looked as if it was a real firearm, Trail told NorthPennNow.
One male victim was treated for injuries sustained during the assault, and the suspect was charged with aggravated assault and related offenses.
